Thankful quilt part 2

Okay, lay out the triangles in the pattern you want your finished square to be.  I chose to make the middle look like a pinwheel.

Once we have laid out the square, then we will fold the rights over the lefts and sew down the middle, without cutting the thread in between.

 This is what that looks like on the machine...I chain stitched them all, just kept going top triangle then bottom triangles, then top, then bottom, etc.

 Here is the entire pile, after clipping thread between each square.  I left the thread attached between the top and the bottom.
Now it needs ironed.  Do NOT skip ironing or it won't lay well as you sew.

Then lay the bottom half onto the top half...matching up middle seam and ends.

 Sew the middle seam and then press again.
Again, I sewed the seams without cutting threads, and the separated them after all the seams were done.

 Here are all the squares after they were ironed.
Now, you just lay them out in a way that is pleasing to your eyes.

 I tried with a 2 inch green border and didn't like the green.
I switched for the rust.

 Then I sewed the middle squares together and added the rust border on the left and right

 Then I sewed up the two columns on either side of the left and right border and attached them.
Once the entire middle section was sewn together, I put the rust borders on the top and bottom.
The bottom row was sewn together, one square, a rust border, three more squares, a rust border, and then the last square.  Repeated for the top row.  Don't forget to iron your seams in between each attaching.  Fits better.  Once the top and bottom row were sewn together, they were attached to the middle section.

After that, I added the green border, which I trimmed down to 1.5 inches before adding.  I did the sides first and then the top and bottom, but it doesn't really matter.
I ended with the cherry red border.  The side borders for it were 6 inches and the top/bottom ones were only 3 inches.
The quilt top ended up full sized.
Now I just need to sandwich it and decide if I am stitching in the ditch to finish or what.
