Blue Boxes quilt

As soon as I started cutting my squares I knew that my quilt wasn't going to come out the same as my inspiration quilt.  Because I used strip sets, I ended up with squares that were outlined in the light and the other half were outlined in the dark.  The inspiration quilt was all dark outlines.  But I started playing, and the look is still good.  This is what I wanted...but didn't have enough fabric to make enough squares to finish going around the outside edge, as you can see.  So then I had a choice to make (that didn't include pouting)...
Choice #1, I could have the center be the lighter outline and ground the top and bottom with the darker...then the border would continue to ground it more so that the light doesn't disappear.
Or choice #2...to make the dark the center and a bit more prominent and then add the border.  The border is just a shade lighter than the plain blue that is the third darkest strip...so I am leaning towards the first choice because it seems to pop better with the plain border.  And wishing I had more of the diamond patterned fabric to go outside the border fabric for a last border.  Last time I was in my JoAnn's tho, there wasn't any more of it.  And I was just in Independence Saturday, so a trip there doesn't seem to be in the near future.

We took a sewing break today anyways, and declared it reading day.  Love our library and selection of books and love when all three of us are reading in the same room!  Good times!
